4 Reasons Why Every Man Needs a Pair of Boots
Boots have been a staple in a men’s wardrobe for centuries. Not until recently has that changed, many men are opting for tennis shoes, but I’m here to tell you why every man needs a pair of boots.
1. Versatility – They can be worn in many different environments and social situations. They can be worn in the office, on campus, on the streets, and many more.
2. Options – Like a good pair of men’s shoes, men’s boots have many options. Depending on what boot you choose, your options can be endless. If you go for a sleek, leather soled boot, you’ll always be able to dress them up or down depending on the occasion.
Maybe you’re more of a lugged sole type of man. A lugged sole is more casual but can still be dressed up if necessary. They’re good for all types of environments and weather. Being from Southern California I don’t have to worry about rain for more than a total of 2 weeks. But I do love a good lugged sole since they offer great traction when it’s wet out.
You can choose the Dainite sole, which I find to be the happy medium between a leather sole and a lugged sole. It has enough traction for different types of weather, but it also can be dressed up better than a lugged sole.
3. Comfort - If any of you have properly broken in decent pair of boots, you know how comfortable they are. I can stay in my boots all day long without my feet hurting. A good pair of leather boots should have a cork midsole, which over time will mold to your foot. With each wear, the leather will become more supple and the boot will become more comfortable.
4. Style - Adding boots to your wardrobe says something about your style. It’s up to you to decide which way you go with it. You can go for a chunkier boot like the Red Wing Iron Ranger’s for a more rugged and workwear style. Or you can go with the Allen Edmonds Dalton for a dressy and sleek style. There are many different boots in between, but I’ll save that for another article.
Boots an an excellent addition to any man’s wardrobe and offer the best of casual and dress footwear. I encourage every man to find a good pair of boots to start breaking in. You’ll be happy you did.
